SCDSL Information

Please refer to the below message from the Southern California Developmental Soccer League regarding the upcoming season.

SCDSL Members:

I have received many inquiries regarding schedules. I am writing to pass along an update as to the status of the schedules. At this time, schedules are being uploaded in to the system. This is a very slow process due to the fact that the schedule is so complex and intricate. One of the great things about the SCDSL is the ability we have, as a league, to customize the schedules based on the age group and number of teams within the flights. However, having this flexibility means that there is a lot of time spent making sure everything is accounted for and covered in the schedule.

The schedule will be posted in the next few days. I wish I could give an exact date and time but we are at the mercy of how quickly everything loads in to the system and then we have to verify that everything loaded correctly.

Showcases. If you don’t already know, the showcase calendar is posted on the SCDSL website under the calendar section. There you can see what the showcase dates are for each age group. Showcase schedules will be posted as a separate schedule since showcase games do not count in standings and there is cross play between north and south, and potentially between flight 1 and flight 2. The games are shorter and the teams will be playing 2 games per day in each showcase event. The showcase schedule will be posted on the website under "schedules" > "showcase events". We will have the showcase schedule for the first 4 weeks of showcases (showcases begin on 9/24) posted within the next few dates as well. Schedules for the remaining showcase dates will be posted shortly thereafter, but even if your showcase schedule isn’t posted immediately, know your showcase dates and plan on playing on those dates. All U11-U19 showcases will be play ed at The Oaks Polo Fields in San Juan Capistrano. The U9-U10 showcases will be played at The Ranch Soccer Complex in San Juan Capistrano.

Managers. Please make sure your rosters are updated in the system. We will be reviewing rosters this week and if your team information is not updated and you do not have the required number of players listed, we will be contacting you regarding the status of your team and its viability. Remember to make sure player ID#’s are listed for each player as well. Rosters must show first and last names of all players on your team.

Games. The season begins on Saturday, September 10th.

Ages 9-13 will have a 10 game season with 2 showcase events (2 games each showcase) giving them 14 games over the course of the season. Ages 9-10 will compete for results only, not standings.

Ages 14-19 will have a 12 games season with 1 showcase event (2 games) for a total of 14 games over the course of the season.

Saturday and Sunday games. For the younger teams, every effort is being made to play the majority of the games on Saturday’s. However, this is based on the field permits set-up by the clubs. If a club only has a short-sided field for Sundays, then those teams, and their opponents, will be playing on Sundays. We have taken great measures to keep as many games on Saturdays as possible in the younger age groups. For the older teams, there will be more Sunday games than for the younger teams simply because the SCDSL season has to be complete by November 20th due to the beginning of the high school season.

Should you have any questions, please contact me via email. I will send another email once the schedules have been posted.

Have a great weekend!
