Congratulations to the following players Trevor Carelton, Jacob Hughs, and Oliver Nelson were selected to the Boys 1998 ODP Player Pool. Boys 2001 player pool Matt Miller, Andrew Miranda, J.J. Flowers, and Cameron Anderson. They join an elite group of SDSC players who have been selected to the Cal South PDP and and ODP programs. Cooper Lachenbruch, Alec Castillo, Christopher Malham, and Alejandro Hernandez, Meg Barber, Julia Kappes, Raymond Shay, Nicole Easley, Pascal Dumesnil, Akeila Oribello, and Yazmin Pitpit.

Congratulations to the following SDSC Girls playing for Westview High School: Courtney Moeller, Presley Wiggins, Emily Sanford, Kari Catrambone, Gracie Horton, Rachael Camara, Emma Snyder, Emily Krysl, Emily Brenholdt, and Sydni Scolari. They are all members if the Westview High School Girls soccer team which has advanced to the SoCal Regional Championship game.  The game ended in a 0-0 tie with El Camino Real LA Section Champ winning in PK’s..

Congratulations to GU9 Scott for making it to the Semi-Finals of next weekend’s State Cup tournament and to GU10 Deyna for advancing to next weekend’s State Cup Quarter-Finals. Best of Luck to both teams in their upcoming matches!

Congratulations to Alec Castillo, Cooper Lachenbruch, Christopher Malham, and Alejandro Hernandez from John Napier’s BU12 team for being invited to participate in the upcoming US Club Soccer’s PDP (Player Development Program) in Los Angeles in February. PDP events are identification and developmental programs conducted under US Club Soccer’s id² National Identification and Development Program. PDP events are based around clubs and leagues in specifically targeted geographic areas. Top players in specified birth years from multiple clubs are invited to participate based upon scouting within the leagues and recommendations from Directors of Coaching. The id² Program, including every PDP event, is sanctioned as an Olympic Development Program.

SDSC’s Brian Quinn has been elected to the Breitbard Hall of Fame housed in the San Diego Hall of Champions he was also a 2012 Nominee for the US Soccer Hall of Fame - Veteran’s Category. CONGRATULATIONS BRIAN!!!!!

The Annual SDSC Awards Banquet was held December 9th at the fabulous Rancho Bernardo Inn. Over 1600 SDSC families and players attended the 2 banquets one for U7-U12 and one for U13-U19. Everyone enjoyed a nice meal prior to the award ceremonies and were able to enjoy the festive atmosphere at the RB Inn. The following awards were given - Overall Player of the Year Older/Younger Boys and Girls, Coaches of the Year, each team recognized a Player of the Year, Team Managers of the Year, teams who finished 1st or 2nd in their gaming leagues, and Loyalty Awards to the graduating players who played for SDSC their entire competitive career. Thank you to all the volunteers that made this incredible event possible. Congratulations to all the award winners.

SDSC’s GU17 White (Coach North) with some players from SDSC GU17 Orange (Coach Collier) recently completed a college tour up the California Coast visiting Pepperdine, Westmont, UC Santa Barbara, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The team toured the college campuses were they learned about academic and athletic life in college. The team then battled Northern and Central California soccer teams in the SLO North vs. South Summer Classic. The team played well, allowing no goals in four games, and earned co-championship. The girls were fortunately to have the UC Merced Women’s soccer coach watch one of their games and then discuss the UCM new NAIA program with the team. While at the tournament the girls lived in the Cal Poly SLO on-campus apartments to get the full college experience. Congratulations on a super road trip!

Congratulations to The San Diego Soccer Club Players selected by Cal South to the Olympic Development Program and Youth ODP Player Pools - Pictured Cooper Lachenbruch B2000 Elite Navy coached by John Napier has been selected to the final 36 of the Cal South B’2000 ODP Group.  Selected to the G’ 96 and G’97 Player pools: Meg Barber G96 Coach Raffi Ruotolo, Marley Canales (US National Team Pool), Nicole Easley, and Pascale Dumesnil coached by Peter Stogsdill. Other players selected to the Cal South ODP and YOP pools - Julia Kappes G99 Coached by Mark Sidebottom, Alejandro Hernandez, Zach Thorn, Alec Castillo, and Raymond Shay all B’2000 coached by John Napier.

The SDSC GU14 Navy team, coached by Raffi Ruotolo, headed to Phoenix, AZ for the Far West Regional Championship. This competition brought together the top 16 teams from 14 states to compete for a berth at the National Tournament in late July. After advancing out of pool play that included the top teams from Hawaii and Utah, the girls head into the quarterfinals Friday. Congratulations girls and good luck!

Congratulations to San Diego Soccer Club’s BU12 and Coach John Napier - our BU12 team defeated BU12 Barcelona Academy at the United Cup Tournament today 1-0 the Barcelona Academy is the number 1 ranked team in the Nation. Great Job Boys!

The Board received an email from one of our younger team coaches regarding the last-minute formation of a competitive team to support the Kick For a Cure tournament this past weekend.  We thought it would be good to share with our membership since it illustrates what the club is about and a reflects the strengths of our player development, community philsophy, and depth of coaching. From the email: "These girls were amazing, playing with kids they didn’t know, coaches they had barely met, on a field they had never seen, in a formation none of them were familiar with.  In all the years I have coached it was one of the best moments I have been able to experience.  I appreciate the opportunity to coach in this club and look forward to continuing to create a special family here in the San Diego Soccer Club."  Click Read More for the full text of the email.
