The SDSC Surf competitive soccer program offers teams in every age group from U8 through U19 for those who are interested in a higher level of play.  These teams are coached by a highly qualified international coaching staff that train and develop youth soccer players with the objective of having players have the opportunity to play at the highest levels of competition available in the country. Competitive coaching focuses on skill development in the early years and tactical abilities in the later years. And while winning is always our coaches’ game objective, skill development of our players is our primary focus.

The SDSC Surf program has grown to be the premier club of North San Diego. SDSC has fielded many very successful teams winning many State Cup Championships and repeat National Cup Finalists. Many players in our program have successfully entered college soccer programs and earned athletic scholarships.

Our goal is to develop each player and to ensure each player improves from year to year. Each age group has several teams allowing a player to grow and progress to higher levels within the same club. Equal development opportunities are provided to every player on every team regardless of entitlement level.

SoCal

  • SDSC Surf is one of the initial clubs from San Diego to transition our teams to the Southern California Soccer League (SoCal). As an NPL member league, SoCal enjoys a pathway to postseason opportunities for its clubs. In addition to postseason opportunities, members also gain access to a plethora of US Club Soccer benefits, including player identification and development, cup-based competition, player health and safety resources, robust coaching education and more.

  • US Club Soccer’s mission is to foster the growth and development of soccer clubs throughout the country to create the best possible development environment for players of all ages in every club. The primary vehicle for accomplishing that ambition is Players First: a branded, holistic club soccer experience for parents and players which emphasizes the development of each individual to his or her full potential, and helps parents make better choices about where their children should play.

  • That Players First philosophy is supported by best-in-class partners and resources, including LaLiga, and is anchored by five pillars: Club Development, Coaching Development, Player Development, Parent Engagement & Education, and Player Health & Safety. In particular, Player Health & Safety is the emphasis, as US Club Soccer prides itself on fostering the safest environment for players in youth sports. US Club Soccer has stringent requirements for all staff registration/eligibility and also provides a variety of safety-related resources to members.

  • At SDSC Surf all 7v7 teams (boys and girls) will play in the SoCal league. In addition to those teams, our girls 9v9 teams as well as our girls 3rd teams and below at 11v11 ages will play in the SoCal league.  On the boys side our 3rd teams and below will play in the SoCal league from our 9v9 ages and older.

A season for a SoCal league team will look something like this:

    • U7-U14 teams will begin training April 1st

    • U15-U18 teams will begin training June 1st

    • Teams will train 2x per week

    • Teams will play 3-4 tournaments over the summer

    • The SoCal fall season will be a 10 game(U15+) to 12 game(U7-U14) that will begin after Labor Day and end prior to Thanksgiving.

    • U8-U14 teams may choose to play State Cup, which will take place in late January and February

    • U15-U18 teams will break from November through March to allow players to participate with the high school soccer teams.

    • U15-U18 teams will return in March to prepare and play in State Cup which will take place in the months of April and May.
